Does the pH value of an intimate washing lotion have to be adjusted to the age of the woman?
No. Whilst studies show that the pH of the skin (in the external intimate area as well) is about 5 in younger women and increases with age, a higher pH value reduces the skin's ability to fight bacteria. Therefore, skin cleansing and skin care products (also for the external intimate area) – for younger and for older individuals – should have a pH of around 5 (not higher) to prevent alkalising the skin and to maintain its natural acid mantle.
