Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid Bacteria
Preventing Vaginal Infections – Rebuilding Vaginal Flora
A healthy vagina is, among other things, populated with many lactic acid bacteria that provide natural protection against infections. In women who are prone to recurrent vaginal infections, the number of lactic acid bacteria is often reduced, or the existing lactic acid bacteria are unable to prevent an infection for various reasons. The vaginal administration of specific lactic acid bacteria can restore the protective vaginal flora.
Vagisan ProbioFlora:
Indications:
- To normalize disturbed vaginal flora following antibiotic treatment for bacterial vaginosis (bacterial vaginal infection)
- To maintain normal vaginal flora in cases of recurrent vaginal infections
Good reasons for Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid Bacteria
- Supports the protective mechanisms against vaginal infections
- Very well tolerated
- Acts locally in the vagina Can be used during breastfeeding and pregnancy*
- Contains two strains of bacteria that produce lactic acid and thus help restore the natural pH value in the vagina
- No refrigeration required
*Note: During pregnancy, all treatments should be coordinated with a doctor.
Building Vaginal Flora with Probiotic
The vaginal capsules Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid Bacteria contain two different species that are also found in the vaginal flora of healthy women, Lactobacillus gasseri DSM 14869 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus DSM 14870. These lactobacilli produce lactic acid and other germ-defensive substances.
In the vaginal capsules, the lactic acid bacteria are present in a freeze-dried, living form. After being inserted into the vagina, the capsule dissolves there. The lactobacilli are released, absorb fluid from the vagina, and "come back to life." They then adhere well to the cells of the vaginal wall and work exactly where an infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or vaginal yeast, can develop. The efficacy and safety of the vaginal capsules have been demonstrated in clinical studies. Regular use of Vagisan ProbioFlora can stabilize the vaginal flora in women prone to recurrent vaginal infections and thus prevent recurring infections.
Did you know?
Lactic acid bacteria are also known as lactobacilli or Döderlein's bacilli. Although the names are different, they all refer to lactic acid bacteria. The goal of administering lactic acid bacteria is to rebuild the vaginal flora when it is sustainably disturbed. This can be the case, for example, after bacterial vaginosis, after a vaginal yeast infection, or after taking antibiotics.
In addition, there are preparations with lactic acid that can be sensible when there are still enough lactic acid bacteria present in the vagina and the existing vaginal flora should be supported by acidification. Further information can be found under "Lactic Acid or Lactic Acid Bacteria?"

Ingredients
1 vaginal capsule contains 400 mg of powder with at least 10^8 CFU (Colony Forming Units) of Lactobacillus gasseri, strain DSM 14869 (freeze-dried, live) and at least 10^8 CFU of Lactobacillus rhamnosus, strain DSM 14870 (freeze-dried, live).
The other components are:
Capsule content: Lactitol, corn starch, xanthan gum, glucose, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) [vegetable]
Capsule shell: Gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171).
Lactitol is a very special "provision" for the lactobacilli, as other bacteria or fungi cannot utilize this "food." Thus, lactitol only stimulates the growth of lactic acid bacteria.
Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid Bacteria is free from preservatives.
