Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid Bacteria
Prevent vaginal infections - rebuild vaginal flora
Among other things, the healthy vagina contains many lactic acid bacteria, which provide natural protection against infection. In women who are prone to repeated vaginal infections, the number of lactic acid bacteria is often reduced, or the existing lactic acid bacteria are not able to prevent an infection for various reasons. The protective vaginal flora can be restored through the vaginal supply of special lactic acid bacteria.

Build up vaginal flora with probiotics
The vaginal capsules Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid Bacteria contain two different species that are also found in the vaginal flora of healthy women, Lactobacillus gasseri DSM 14869 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus DSM 14870. In addition to lactic acid, these lactobacilli produce other germ-repellent substances.
In the vaginal capsules, the lactic acid bacteria are present in freeze-dried, live form. After insertion into the vagina, the capsule dissolves. The lactobacilli are released, absorb fluid from the vagina and "come to life" again. They then adhere well to the cells of the vaginal wall and act exactly where an infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or vaginal fungus, can develop. The effectiveness and safety of the vaginal capsules has been proven in clinical trials. If you are prone to repeated vaginal infections, regular use of Vagisan ProbioFlora can stabilise the vaginal flora and thus prevent recurrent infections.
Did you know?
Lactic acid bacteria are also known as lactobacilli or Döderlein rods. Although the names are different, they are always lactic acid bacteria. The aim of administering lactic acid bacteria is to rebuild the vaginal flora if it is permanently disturbed. This can be the case, for example, after bacterial vaginosis, vaginal fungus or after taking antibiotics.
In addition, there are preparations with lactic acid, which can be useful if there are still enough lactic acid bacteria in the vagina and the remaining vaginal flora is to be supported by acidification. You can find more information under "Lactic acid or lactic acid bacteria?

Ingredients
1 vaginal capsule contains 400 mg powder with at least10 8 CFU (colony forming units) Lactobacillus gasseri, strain DSM 14869 (freeze-dried, live) and at least 10 8 CFU Lactobacillus rhamnosus, strain DSM 14870 (freeze-dried, live).
The other ingredients are:
Capsule contents: lactitol, maize starch, xanthan gum, glucose, magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.) [vegetable].
Capsule shell: gelatine, titanium dioxide (E171).
Lactitol is a very special "food" for the lactobacilli, because other bacteria or fungi cannot use this "food". Lactitol therefore only stimulates the growth of lactic acid bacteria. Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid is free from conservatives.
Use of Vagisan ProbioFlora Lactic Acid Bacteria
Insert one vaginal capsule deep into the vagina daily in the evening before going to bed. After insertion into the vagina, the capsule dissolves there. The freeze-dried lactobacilli are released, absorb fluid from the vagina and "come back to life".
The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 and over and going through puberty is:
- After antibiotic treatment for bacterial vaginosis (bacterial vaginal infection): insert 1 vaginal capsule deep into the vagina at night before bedtime for 6 to 8 days.
- To maintain normal vaginal flora in case of recurrent vaginal infections: Immediately after menstruation, insert 1 vaginal capsule deep into the vagina each evening for 4 to 6 days before going to bed.
