Vagisan sept contains the active ingredient povidone-iodine (PVP-iodine) with a broad spectrum of activity and a very fast antiseptic effect. The complex compound of iodine with the carrier povidone is better tolerated than, for example, alcoholic iodine solutions. Due to its disinfecting effect, iodine is mainly used for surgery preparation or wound disinfection.
